Greenbrier Dental Center is a single office, privately owned, full service general, dental practice serving the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake, Virginia since 1985. Our dental office has five dentists, six hygienists, eighteen dental assistants and twenty office administrators making us one of the most successful dental practices in Hampton Roads. Role:

Dental Assistant Requirements:
Completion of Dental Assisting School 3+ years chairside experience is preferred X-Ray and current CPR Certified Candidate must possess proficient computer skills, as this will be a chartless office. Prior experience with Eaglesoft is a bonus, but not required. This will be 4-5 workdays per week that would require you to work at least one or two, six o'clock evenings a week. The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a safe and efficient environment. This position involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during dental procedures, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained. The Dental Assistant also manages patient records, schedules appointments, and provides compassionate support to patients to ease their dental experience. By maintaining strict infection control protocols and utilizing dental terminology accurately, the assistant helps uphold the highest standards of clinical practice. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the smooth operation of the dental office and the overall satisfaction and well-being of patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program. Certification in dental assisting (e.g., CDA) as required by state regulations. Knowledge of dental terminology and infection control standards. Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working as a dental assistant in a clinical setting. Eaglesoft experience a plus but not a requirement. Additional certifications in CPR or first aid. Familiarity with materials. Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating compassion and patient-centered care. Experience with electronic health records and scheduling systems beyond Dentrix.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and organize dental treatment rooms and instruments before patient appointments. Assist dentists and hygienist during exams, charting and treatment planning, as well as various dental procedures by handing instruments and materials as needed. Perform sterilization and infection control procedures to maintain a clean and safe clinical environment. Manage patient records, including updating dental charts and entering information into Eaglesoft software. Provide patient care by explaining procedures, offering reassurance, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatment. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary. Adhere to body motion techniques to reduce strain and injury during repetitive tasks.
