Duties Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for pediatric and orthodontic procedures Assist dentists during examinations, restorations, orthodontic adjustments, X-ray procedures, and other treatments using chairside assisting techniques Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and radiation safety standards Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, including documenting medical history, treatment notes, and medical coding Educate young patients on oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs while maintaining a compassionate approach Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures Support infection control practices by following aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with HIPAA regulations Operate advanced dental technology, including 3D scanners and medical imaging tools to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed, managing patient flow and appointment coordination Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on pediatric dentistry or orthodontics preferred Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety protocols Familiarity with dental assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry for efficiency during procedures Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical documentation compliance Certification in dental assisting is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or orthodontics are a plus Excellent communication skills to educate patients of all ages effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Embark on a rewarding career where your skills directly impact the confidence and health of our young patients.
