Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator of our dental practice. This vital role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring seamless patient experiences from appointment scheduling to treatment assistance. You will play a key part in maintaining accurate medical records, managing insurance verifications, and delivering exceptional patient service. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a welcoming environment while supporting the operational excellence of our clinic. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk with professionalism, including answering multi-line phone systems and scheduling appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle billing tasks utilizing medical billing systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support with dental terminology and clinical procedures. Collect patient information accurately through intake forms, review documentation for completeness, and update electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Manage medical records, file documents systematically, and perform administrative duties including data entry, typing (10 key typing), and filing in accordance with health information management standards. Support medical administrative functions such as insurance verification, appointment reminders, and patient follow-up to enhance care plans and overall clinic efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in a dental office setting or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT coding), and insurance procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is highly desirable. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical billing practices to ensure compliant documentation review and accurate coding. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective multi-line phone system handling. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks. Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations. Prior clinic experience or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly advantageous.
