Duties Prepare treatment rooms with necessary orthodontic instruments, materials, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency. Take and develop dental x-rays, including intraoral images and 3D scans, while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, medical history, vital signs, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes. Handle patient management software for appointment scheduling, reminders, and follow-up communications to enhance patient care experience. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while supporting the dental team with general dentistry tasks such as dental instrument processing and assisting with oral surgery or prosthodontics procedures when needed. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; previous orthodontic clinic experience is highly preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical records management within EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Knowledge of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization tools, and other clinical instruments. Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention policies. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care and comfort. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatric dentistry cases. Certification in dental radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in endodontics or oral surgery are advantageous. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and proficiency in medical terminology related to dental procedures.
