Responsibilities Assist dentist and dental hygienists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, perio charting, oral surgery, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all clinical supplies are stocked and ready. Take dental x-rays and Panos when applicable, while adhering to all safety protocols. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records in Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear field during procedures with four-handed dentistry techniques. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care. Follow infection prevention management protocols, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to uphold clinical confidentiality policies. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions while fostering a caring and professional environment. Support the dental receptionist duties by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments via patient management software, and maintaining smooth clinic operations. Ensure all dental equipment is properly maintained and report any malfunctions promptly for timely repairs. Qualifications Valid state license as a dental assistant, and 2 years of experience working chairside. Hold current CPR certification. Be knowledgeable of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and documentation review processes. Proficiency in EMR, we use Dentrix. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately.
