In this vital role, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient comfort, and ensure the smooth operation of daily clinical activities. Duties Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures. Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance for confidentiality. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures. Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, updating medical documentation, and assisting with medical coding when necessary. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and use of dental terminology. Experience with dental software platforms like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral health, and understanding of dental procedures across specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics. Competence in using advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools. Strong organizational skills for managing patient files, medical records, and medical coding processes related to dental procedures. Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals involved in pediatrics or general dentistry.
