A Dental Assistant assists dentists in caring for patient's teeth. Helps patients get ready for treatment; prepares equipment and supplies. May perform some dental procedures under the direction of a dentist, such as fluoride application, if allowed under state regulations. Works in dental offices.

Job Description
Duties:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating custom trays, and taking impressions
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- May require the performance of additional duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Previous Dental Assistant experience preferred
- Bilingual
- Spanish, English
- Aseptic technique: Ability to maintain a sterile environment during dental procedures
- Medical imaging: Experience in taking and developing dental x-rays
- Patient assessment: Ability to assess patients' oral health conditions and identify any abnormalities or concerns
Assisting:
Proficiency in assisting the dentist during various dental procedures- HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act): Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Anatomy knowledge: Understanding of oral anatomy and its relation to dental procedures
Dentrix:
Proficiency in using Dentrix dental practice management software for appointment scheduling, and patient records This is not an exhaustive list of duties and skills.
