Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Conduct vital signs assessments such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Manage electronic health records (using Dentrix), ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits, medical history, and treatment plans. Maintain infection prevention protocols by adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures for dental equipment. Support medical imaging processes and ensure proper handling of medical records in compliance with healthcare privacy standards. Collaborate effectively with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient care experiences. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and EMR management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to accurately perform X-ray procedures while maintaining patient safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control protocols, including HIPAA compliance management.
