Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our school-based clinic team, primarily serving at our MLK and MXR locations , with occasional coverage at the Gurley site or mobile unit if needed. This position plays a key role in promoting oral health and preventing disease through direct care, patient education, and community support. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with children , proficient in dental computer systems and Electronic Dental Records (EDR) , and possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform oral health assessments and dental hygiene procedures for pediatric patients Provide professional cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and X-rays Educate children and families on proper oral hygiene techniques and prevention strategies Offer guidance on oral care products, denture/retainer maintenance, and post-care instructions Collaborate with dentists, dental assistants, and school staff to ensure comprehensive patient care Document clinical notes and maintain accurate patient records using an Electronic Dental Record (EDR) system Assist with scheduling appointments and following up with patients as needed Monitor and report patient concerns, including post-treatment recovery or reactions Support quality improvement, compliance with infection control policies, and clinic flow efficiency
Qualifications:
Current Alabama Dental Hygiene License Experience with EDR systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or similar) Proficient computer skills and comfort using digital systems Strong interpersonal skills, especially with children and families from diverse backgrounds Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus , but not required Why Join Us?
