Dental Hygienist

Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote healthy smiles. Assess patients' oral health status by examining teeth, gums, and oral tissues; document findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Monitor vital signs and review medical histories to ensure safe treatment planning, especially for pediatric dentistry cases. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records with precision. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license with current certification to practice in the state. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Experience with chairside assisting, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
