In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing dental hygiene procedures, assisting with patient education, and supporting the overall clinical operations. Your expertise will help ensure a smooth, efficient, and positive experience for every patient while maintaining the highest standards of infection control and confidentiality. This position offers flexible hours, a collaborative environment, and opportunities to grow your skills in pediatric and general dentistry. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and oral health evaluations. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency. Educate patients on dental care best practices, including oral hygiene instructions tailored for pediatric or general patients. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR/EMR), documenting treatment plans, medical notes, and procedural details. Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality. Operate dental equipment safely and efficiently while troubleshooting common technical issues. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist with medical coding for billing purposes when necessary. Support the team with chairside assisting duties, including preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH). Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and dental procedures. Familiarity with dental x-ray techniques and equipment operation. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively across all age groups. Commitment to infection control standards and maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
