Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, patient responses, and clinical findings. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment. Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles, especially when working with pediatric patients (pediatrics). Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Understanding of medical coding and documentation review processes related to dental procedures. Certification in dental hygiene from an accredited program; licensure compliant with state regulations.
