Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing fluoride treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems), including medical coding and treatment notes. Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as reviewing documentation, managing medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Experience Previous experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting and chairside assisting is highly valued. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances efficiency in managing patient records and documentation review. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus for caring for young patients in pediatrics-focused practices. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control procedures, and medical terminology is essential. Experience with EMR systems, medical coding, and medical records management supports accurate documentation and billing processes. Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging, and patient care with professionalism and compassion.
