In this vital role, you will provide exceptional preventive dental care, educate patients on oral health, and support overall patient well-being. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) accurately using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety. Assess patient vital signs and medical history to ensure safe treatment planning and delivery. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, including documentation review, medical coding, and updates in electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection prevention protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality and ensure a sterile environment. Requirements Valid Dental Hygiene license with current state registration or certification. Proven experience working as a dental hygienist in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record management. Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Strong understanding of infection control practices, healthcare infection prevention, and aseptic techniques. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, providing clear patient education on dental care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems and medical records review processes.
