Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency Capture and interpret dental radiographs (x-rays) ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) accurately, including documentation review and medical coding Maintain strict infection prevention standards by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols in accordance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental for scheduling, documentation, and billing Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and general dentistry procedures Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred, along with familiarity in pediatric patient care and behavior management Ability to perform dental x-rays safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards.
