Our fee-for-service practice values the importance of comprehensive periodontal maintenance therapy, providing each patient with a 1-hour appointment for personalized care. We operate with a recall system, use Dentrix electronic dental records, and maintain a high standard for infection control and patient education. This role requires a self-sufficient, team-oriented professional willing to work without a dedicated hygiene assistant and report directly to the Dental Office Manager. Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings (periodontal maintenance), including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Perform initial periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing). Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral health status. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Dentrix), documenting treatment plans, medical records, and procedural notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold healthcare infection control standards. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatment sessions. Support dental office operations by managing appointment scheduling, patient communication, and ensuring adherence to confidentiality policies. Maintain the inventory and cleanliness of the treatment room. Calling patients to fill available slots in the schedule. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental terminology relevant to oral health care. Skilled in operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and other clinical tools. Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) like Dentrix for documentation review and management. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, including sterilization processes and infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Familiarity with dental coding related to dental procedures for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
