Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Educate patients on proper dental care practices, including brushing, flossing, and preventive measures. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits and treatment plans. Maintain infection prevention protocols through aseptic techniques, sterilization of equipment, and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Operate dental equipment safely and efficiently, including dental x-ray machines and other clinical tools. Review medical records and coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care. Support infection control practices by following healthcare infection prevention standards and managing medical imaging procedures. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental or healthcare environment. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to dentistry. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children in a pediatric dentistry setting. Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs.
