Job Description

Dental Hygienist - Part time 2 days /wk We are seeking a friendly, skilled and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist Part time (2 days per week) to join our well-established private dental practice. In this role, you will provide exceptional preventive care while helping patients achieve and maintain excellent oral health. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a comfortable, positive experience for patients of all ages. We are comprehensive in treatment planning and seek a collaborative/educational approach with our patients. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient education, has strong clinical skills, and enjoys working collaboratively with dentists and team members to deliver high-quality care.
Our Ideal candidate:
Current NM Register Dental hygiene license Current CPR and OSHA certification Minimum of 2 years experience Proficiency in administration of local anesthetics Excellent, professional communication skills with patients and colleagues Solution-focused orientation and genuinely compassionate and collaborative disposition Excellent at taking consistent diagnostic digital x-ray.
Responsibilities/skills include:
Welcome patients and help them feel comfortable before treatment Review medical and dental histories and perform initial oral health assessments Perform a comprehensive periodontal evaluation, including probe depths, bleeding points, recessions, mobility, furcation, and-so-on Chart any progress/decline and advise the patient. Identify failing dental restorations, fracture, and/or open contact - areas of visual concern Perform oral prophylaxis, polish, and educate patients on home care instructions 60 min Hyg maintenance appt, 120 min new patient appts Discuss any unscheduled treatment with patients using visual tools and verbal skills to educate and motivate them Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride when appropriate Take digital dental X-rays Educate patients of all ages on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care Provide post-treatment instructions Advise the Doctor when a patient is ready for an exam. Inform the Doctor of the patient's periodontal score, what was completed during the visit, any unfinished treatments, identified areas of concern, recall intervals and any medical/personal concerns the patient may have. Assist in developing treatment plans Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation Schedule patients for a future continuing care appointment, emphasizing the need for continuing care and the recommended next appointment interval Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment Monitor and restock clinical supplies as needed
Pay:
$40.00 - $48.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 per week
