Dental Hygienist

Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying sealants or topical anesthetics. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Collaborate with dentists and other team members in delivering high-quality general dentistry services, including pediatric dentistry when applicable. Monitor patient vital signs during appointments to ensure safety throughout procedures. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting medical coding processes for billing purposes. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office setting. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology related to dentistry. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly preferred. Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatric patient care is a plus. Ability to perform four-handed dentistry efficiently to maximize productivity during procedures. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality. Prior experience in medical records management and documentation review ensures accuracy in patient files. Demonstrated competence in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting during various procedures.
