In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by performing thorough dental cleanings, patient assessments, and education while ensuring the highest standards of infection control and safety. Your expertise in dental terminology, medical records management, and chairside assisting will contribute to a smooth and welcoming patient experience. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and applying fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to all infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to support long-term dental health. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy, ensuring documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control standards by maintaining sterilization procedures, proper disposal of sharps, and maintaining a clean clinical environment in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in your jurisdiction. Proven experience in general dentistry with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding processes. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and aseptic procedures. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse age groups, especially pediatrics. Knowledge of infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and documentation standards within a dental office setting.
