Registered Dental Hygienist Full Job Description Summary:
Promote dental health by performing the following duties:
  • Clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide other preventative dental care.
  • Evaluate patient's oral health and determine proper treatment. Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, cancer screenings, radiographic studies and other like tasks. Record and chart electronically Take vital signs as necessary.
  • Provide information to patients by answering questions and offering helpful and relevant literature. Educate patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health.
  • Prepare treatment area by adhering to department policies and procedures. Prepare patient for treatment.
  • Evaluate patients' oral health and review patient records.
  • Maintain sterile and sharpened dental hygiene equipment and instruments.
  • Provide information to patients by answering questions and offering helpful and relevant literature.
  • Precept as needed for students and residents.
  • Keep track of patient care and treatment plans and maintain confidentiality including private health information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
