Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Registered Dental Hygienist and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care! In this energetic and rewarding position, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, educate patients on oral health, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Your expertise in clinical procedures, patient assessment, and infection control will ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive experience for every patient. Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) using digital systems like Opendental platforms. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs. Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained. Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records (EMR), including treatment notes and medical coding. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing compassionate care especially for pediatric dentistry cases. Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all privacy regulations. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures is a plus. Proficiency with dental software such as Open Dental for charting, documentation review, and medical records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging, and basic medical record documentation accurately. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including children. Familiarity with dental assisting procedures like four-handed dentistry enhances team collaboration. Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and medical coding practices related to dental services.
