Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health. Assist with chairside procedures by preparing instruments, managing infection control protocols, and ensuring a sterile environment. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including documentation review and medical coding. Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and infection prevention standards to protect patient confidentiality and ensure a safe clinical environment. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for electronic health records management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation. Skilled in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control practices. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards. Excellent communication skills for effective client education and team collaboration. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management, medical records documentation review, medical coding, and EMR/EHR systems.
