Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety through proper aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all treatments and patient interactions clearly. Follow infection prevention protocols and uphold HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality and ensure a sterile environment. Skills Proficiency in dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry techniques and providing care tailored to pediatric patients. Skilled in dental assisting tasks including chairside support, medical imaging, X-ray procedures, and maintaining dental equipment. Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about their dental care needs.
