Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Sterilization Technician/Hygiene Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this vital role, you will ensure the highest standards of infection control and sterilization protocols are maintained, supporting our clinical staff in delivering exceptional patient care. Your proactive approach will help create a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for patients of all ages, especially in pediatric and general dentistry settings. Duties Prepare, sterilize, and organize dental instruments and equipment using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Assist with chairside procedures by passing instruments, managing dental materials, and supporting four-handed dentistry practices. Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, for patients as needed. Operate and maintain dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to document patient information accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and ensuring smooth clinic flow. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following infection control procedures aligned with OSHA standards and dental best practices. Qualifications Prior experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control protocols is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while following radiation safety guidelines; certification in radiography is a plus. Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with children is advantageous. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical documentation and records. Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with dentists, hygienists, and administrative staff.
