Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join our team as The Assister. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing exceptional support throughout their dental care journey. Your responsibilities will include managing patient interactions, assisting dental providers during procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude to create a welcoming environment for all patients. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and verify their appointment details while ensuring accurate medical and dental documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Epic. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental chairs, and organizing necessary supplies in accordance with infection control and aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties by handing instruments, managing suction, and operating dental equipment like X-ray machines and 3D scanners. Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety standards. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; monitor patient comfort throughout procedures; and assist with medical imaging as needed. Maintain detailed medical records and documentation using EMR systems; ensure accuracy in medical coding and record keeping for insurance claims and compliance purposes. Support the dental team with chairside assisting tasks including patient education on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and post-treatment care instructions. Requirements Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting duties. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic; experience with Eaglesoft is a plus. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral health, and proficiency in taking X-rays and operating medical imaging devices like 3D scanners. Ability to perform chairside assisting across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages; experience working with pediatric patients is preferred. Certification or training in medical terminology, vital signs measurement, or related fields is advantageous.
