Full Job Description Summary:
This position plays a key role in providing quality dental care at our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) medical center. The primary focus will be on examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for prevention, infections and injuries of the teeth and mouth. Each dentist is expected to see approximately 15-18 patients per day.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following: Evaluates patients' intraoral & peri-oral hard and soft tissue condition; including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue and developmental pathology. Diagnose and treat Emergency Dental situations such as toothaches, broken teeth/restorations, dislodged crown/bridges, dentures, etc. Develop patient treatment plan; including Preventative, endodontic, periodontal, restorative, prosthetic and follow up care. Refer out complex Endodontic, Surgical and Periodontal treatment. Perform and complete the remaining portion of treatment plan. Administration of local anesthesia. Apply pit and fissure sealants. Root planning. Exercises direct supervision of the assigned/designated dental assistants. Attend dental provider meetings and participate in QI projects as needed. Provide professional consultation to other staff dentists when needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily complete job: Current CA Dentistry license; graduated from an accredited Dental School (DDS/DMD). Two (2) to five (5) years of hands on dentistry experience; up to date knowledge of regulations, methods, trends, and equipment; professional dental association membership(s); adequate malpractice insurance. DEA Certificate. CPR Certified. Interest in treating the underserved, low-income communities is highly desired. Excellent chair-side manners. Ability to proceed on own initiative using independent judgment and discretion. Knowledge of office management and administrative procedures, and the ability to supervise and review the work of others. Familiarity with dental records administration and proficient with computer technology. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of clinic and patient protocols. Must be bilingual English and Vietnamese. Verification of employment eligibility. TB clearance, renewed annually. Credentialing and Privileging, renewed every two (2) years.
