GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide lab and clinical instruction to Dental Assisting students starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. Instruction will utilize clinical simulation, laboratory materials, and dental instruments to support hands-on learning. The courses listed below will be offered in both the Fall and Spring semesters. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Uses established calibration protocol to evaluate student performance of clinical skills and related practice procedures pertaining to radiography and chairside dental assisting. (see courses below). Weekly team meetings. Monthly program faculty meeting. Curriculum/calibration meetings, as scheduled. (DAS100) Radiology Lab This laboratory course offers students the opportunity to develop foundational radiology skills essential for clinical practice. Through hands-on training with simulation manikins and live patients, students gain practical experience in dental radiographic techniques. The course is designed to prepare students for competent performance in a clinical setting and to meet the requirements for radiology certification. ( DAS106) Chairside Dental Assisting Lab This course provides an orientation to the role of the dental assistant in dental practice. The concepts of dentistry and chairside assisting procedures commonly used in a dental office are introduced. Clinical and professional skills and ethical standards for patient care will be discussed and developed in the lecture and through the laboratory and/or clinical simulation component. Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Current Massachusetts Dental Assistant License or Registered Dental Hygienist license. Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field. Previous teaching experience, preferably in a clinical or academic setting. Recent professional experience in the dental field. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and students. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for course content delivery and grade posting. Availability to teach during evening hours and on Saturdays. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous teaching experience of these courses in a community college setting. Evidence of teaching methodology, experience with learning management systems. Equivalency Statement Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as noted above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience has prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.
