Full Job Description Overview:
As an Oral Surgeon, you will play a critical role in providing specialized surgical care to patients while contributing to the overall success of the dental practice. This position requires advanced clinical expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery, a strong commitment to patient safety and satisfaction, and the ability to work collaboratively with the dental team to deliver comprehensive care.Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, jaws, and facial structures requiring surgical intervention. Perform oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures including, but not limited to, tooth extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth), dental implant placement, bone grafting, surgical exposure of impacted teeth, and other related procedures. Evaluate patient medical histories and diagnostic imaging to determine appropriate surgical treatment plans. Interpret diagnostic images (X-rays, CBCT scans) to assess oral and maxillofacial conditions and guide surgical planning. Administer and manage appropriate anesthesia and sedation techniques in accordance with training and regulatory requirements. Collaborate closely with general dentists, specialists, dental assistants, and other team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Provide consultations and accept referrals from general dentists and other providers for surgical treatment. Effectively communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, surgical procedures, risks, and post-operative instructions to patients. Monitor patient recovery and provide appropriate follow-up care to ensure optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, surgical documentation, and clinical notes. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, safety, and infection control standards. Stay current with advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery techniques, technology, and best practices. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain licensure and surgical competency. Address patient concerns and questions in a professional, compassionate, and patient-centered manner. Uphold the highest standards of surgical excellence, ethical conduct, and patient care.Qualifications:
Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited dental school. Completion of an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. Board eligibility or board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is preferred. Valid dental license and appropriate permits required to practice oral surgery and sedation/anesthesia in the applicable state. Strong clinical and surgical skills in oral and maxillofacial procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and reassure patients. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety and high-quality surgical outcomes. Demonstrate professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and ethical conduct. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary dental team environment.
