FUNCTION
To assure that all Dental services are provided in accordance with professional standards and funding source requirements; and provide quality dental treatment to assigned patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment of diseases, injuries and deformities pertaining to the teeth, jaws, organs of the mouth and connective tissues associated with the oral cavity. Performs a full range of professional dental services, including: oral and radiographic examination, diagnosis of oral pathology, restoration of cavities, administering local anesthesia, relatively uncomplicated multiple teeth extractions, crown and bridge prostheses, full denture fabrication, pulp canal therapy, treating mouth and gum infections, recognizing systemic diseases and referring these cases for medical diagnosis and occasional difficult oral surgery. Performs a program of dental care which includes such difficult dental health problems as: removing unerupted and impacted teeth, residual root tips, and teeth with exostoses roots; removing localized foreign bodies from gingival tissues and alveolar sockets, performing root canal therapy on the anterior teeth of both children and adults; treating cases of rampant caries in children; and performing muco-gingival surgery. Successfully treating a patient population which contains people who present actual or potential behavioral problems that require skills in patient handling. Participates in dental quality assurance reviews. Cooperates with the medical and allied health team to effectuate a harmonious relationship within the total health service system. Responsible for attending continuing educational programs. Shall help plan and coordinate community programs in the field of Dental Health Education in conjunction with the efforts of a Health Educator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate from an Accredited Dental College or University and hold a degree in Dental Surgery (D.D.S) or Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). Must be currently licensed to practice in the State of Ohio. Must have at least two (2) years' experience in dental operation and management, preferably in a community health agency.
