Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Dialysis Tech to work in a medical center located in Torrance, CA.

HRS/WK Job Duties:
Sets up dialysis equipment at patients' bedside or in a preparation room by connecting water source and power cords, assembling blood lines and the proper dialyzer, preparing dialysate concentrate, priming the extracorporeal circuit, and performing pressure-holding and alarm tests. Monitors the operation of a central or portable reverse osmosis water supply system by observing meters and gauges and making adjustments to maintain the proper degree of conductivity and temperature of the dialysate solution being delivered to individual dialyzers. Confers with renal unit nurses concerning the selection of dialyzers and the proper functioning of dialyzers before and during treatments. Cleans and disinfects dialysis equipment after each use by performing procedures such as disassembling systems, discarding and replacing dialyzers, and disinfecting with acid and bleach. Maintains dialysis system components and accessory devices such as blood pumps and hand manometers by testing, calibrating, adjusting, replacing parts, and, in the case of inoperative units, tagging them for outside repair. Orders, receives, monitors, and stores supplies and accessory parts used in the maintenance of dialysis equipment and transfers them to the working area as necessary. Performs safety checks on carbon tanks, RO units, UV lamps, and central RO ultrafilters, including Diasafe filters. Collects water and dialysate samples and sends them for microbiology testing per protocol on a monthly basis. Depending on the results, disinfects equipment if standards are not met. May perform water analysis for heavy metals for central or portable reverse osmosis systems, including hospital water, in accordance with regulatory standards. May perform pretreatment water quality checks including free chlorine, total chlorine, chloramine, pH, and water hardness testing.
Requirements:
One year's experience assisting in the assembling, testing, operating, and servicing equipment used in hemodialysis procedures.
