10 per hour (BOE) Position Summary Arvin Post Acute is seeking a dependable and motivated Cook/Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. This role is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, food service, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment to ensure residents receive nutritious and appealing meals. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook may assist with overseeing kitchen operations to ensure meals are prepared in accordance with facility policies, dietary guidelines, and food safety standards. Our team is committed to providing quality care and a positive dining experience for every resident we serve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, this does not exclude other duties that may be assigned. Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipes. Prepare and serve food in appropriate portions and in a timely manner. Assist in preparing modified diets, including therapeutic and pureed foods. Maintain proper food temperatures and record required logs. Assist with meal tray preparation and service. Maintain kitchen, cooking areas, and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. Follow infection control and food safety guidelines at all times. Maintain sanitizer solutions and cleaning schedules for kitchen areas. Clean cooking areas, equipment, and serving carts after use. Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation duties as needed. Ensure food presentation is appealing and appropriate for residents. Work cooperatively with staff in all departments. Report resident concerns or potential issues to the Administrator or Director of Nursing. Participate in orientation and ongoing training for dietary staff. Assist with kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities May assist with kitchen supervision and operations when the Dietary Supervisor is not present. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one (1) year of cooking experience , preferably in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or long-term care setting. Experience preparing meals for special diets preferred. Certificates and Licenses Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification . Knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred. Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health . Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequent standing and walking Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing Ability to maintain visual acuity including close and distance vision Work Environment The work environment is typical of a food service setting within a healthcare facility.
