Full Job Description TITLE:
General Utility Technician/ Dietary Aide
REPORTS TO
Dietary Manager Non-Exempt Shift Hours:
8:00am - 3:00pm
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. As General Utility Technician/ Dietary Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. ROLE and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas. Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance. Operate dishwasher to ensure thorough cleaning of dishware and utensils. Keep all equipment, working areas, walls, floors and fans clean and orderly. Report any needed supplies, faulty working equipment, accidents, problems, etc. to Dietary Management. Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are maintained. Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner. Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies. Performs all other duties as assigned by Dietary Manager or Assistant Dietary Manager. Prepare meals in accordance with standardized menu (recipes, portions, and special diets). Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance. Assist cook in preparing meals as necessary. Assist in checking diet trays and carts before distribution. Follow all safety, infection control, and universal precaution policies and procedures when preparing food, cleaning equipment, and performing other daily tasks. Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Dietary Manager immediately. Assist in maintaining food storage areas, including the freezer, and cooler in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS
Organized and detail oriented. Courteous and professional demeanor. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods is required. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly is required. Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines is required. Previous experience in Utility Technician operations is preferred but not required. Previous cooking experience in a senior living environment is preferred but not required. Any currently active ServSafe certifications are preferred but not required.
