Job Description

Is responsible for performing work in the preparation and service of food for patients and staff. Performs related functions such as the proper use, cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
Examples of Typical Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Follows proper food handling and sanitary practices in the preparation, service and clean-up of all food service assignments. 2. Prepares cold food items such as salads, desserts, and sandwiches. May be required to remove pre-prepared hot foods from refrigeration and heat it up for evening meals. 3. Cleans assigned work areas and equipment throughout the Food Service Department, following approved cleaning and sanitation procedures. 4. Performs ware washing, operates dish washing machine. 5. Takes out garbage, cleans the garbage units and assures proper staging of garbage equipment. 6. Dispatches and stores food, supplies, serviceware in approved fashion. 7. Sets up trays or other food transportation equipment with food and service supplies. 8. Distributes and collects food, dishes, utensils, trays and carts. 9. Documents food temperatures, production records and supply orders as assigned. 10. When assigned to café or resident service areas, organizes and provides food service as required. Follows the menu for meals being served. 12. Sets, collects dishes, cleans and resets tables when assigned. 13. Participates in inservice education and training sessions on a regular basis and follows procedures as instructed in those sessions. Participates in Employee Meetings. 14. Wears approved head covering, shoes, uniform and ID as required while on duty. 15. Follows directions and fulfills assignments as directed, performs related work as required.
