Job Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of meals to hospice house patients, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements and patient preferences. This role ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary environment while providing compassionate service to patients, families, and staff.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals and beverages in accordance with dietary guidelines and patient care plans. Deliver meals to patient rooms, ensuring presentation and timeliness meet hospice standards. Follow safe food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures at all times. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area. Assist with inventory control by monitoring supplies and notifying supervisor of shortages. Ensure patient dietary needs and restrictions are followed as outlined in care plans. Provide respectful, compassionate interaction with patients and families while performing job duties. Adhere to all infection control and safety policies. Assist with special requests or modified diets as directed by leadership.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Conforms to all applicable Agency policies and procedures. Participates actively in continuing education and in-services. Maintains confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices Knowledge / Skills /
Abilities:
Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation procedures Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with staff, patients and families. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods. Commitment to providing compassionate care in a hospice environment. Time management Cooperative attitude Advanced written and verbal interpersonal communication
Information Management:
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
Risk Management:
• Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations. • Maintains Agency/program compliance with local, state, and federal laws as well as state accreditation standards.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. •
Experience:
Previous experience in food service or healthcare dietary services preferred. • License /
Certification :
Driver's license; no listing in the OIG Excluded Provider listing
Environmental Conditions:
Works under a variety of conditions in facilities; ability to work flexible schedule. Moderate noise level; tasks may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.
Pay:
$21.67 - $26.10 per hour
