• Job Description:

• + Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.

+ Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors. + Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services. + May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies. + Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management. + Monitors and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach nutrition goals and promote optimal outcomes. + Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives. + Enters complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation. Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care. + Participates in patient care rounds, collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to create nutrition plans of care. + Promotes evidence-based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas. + Provides timely responses to internal electronic communication. + Other duties as assigned.

Skills, and Abilities:

• + Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy.

[Required] + General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, basic computer skills, e-mail and spreadsheet software. [Required] + Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc. [Required] + Reviews and/or updates resource/reference materials when applicable or required. [Required] + Identifies specific patient or staff needs, initiates and develops educational or clinical materials then evaluates outcomes. [Required] + Assures that care delivered to each patient is in accordance with established standards. [Required] + Skill and knowledge in working with an electronic health record system. [Required] + Provides appropriate intervention in accordance with the identified patient's goals. [Required] + Reassesses and updates nutrition care process and implement changes as indicated. [Required] + Assessment, interventions and procedures utilizing equipment are appropriate for age group. [Required]

S. regionally accredited university or college and course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics + Completes a CADE-accredited supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation, or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies + Didactic program with strong focus in clinical nutrition
