Des Moines, IA area Campbell Street is seeking a Contract Registered Dietitian (RD) to provide professional nutrition services to our long-term care and skilled nursing communities. This role is ideal for a self-directed clinician who enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration and has experience (or strong interest) in geriatric nutrition and regulatory compliance. This position is a 1099 contract role . The Dietitian will maintain an independent contract with the community and is not considered an employee. Qualifications Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential in good standing Licensed Dietitian in the State of Iowa (required) Experience in long-term care and/or skilled nursing preferred Strong knowledge of CMS, state regulations, and survey readiness Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team Organized, dependable, and able to manage time independently Professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain) Key Responsibilities & Duties The Contract Dietitian will provide nutrition services in accordance with federal, state, and facility standards, including but not limited to: Clinical Nutrition Care Conduct nutrition assessments for residents upon admission, quarterly, annually, and with significant change in condition Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans Identify and manage nutrition-related risks including: Weight loss or gain Malnutrition Dehydration Dysphagia Wounds and pressure injuries Specialized diet needs (renal, diabetic, cardiac, etc.) Provide nutrition interventions and follow-up based on resident needs and physician orders Interdisciplinary Collaboration Participate in care plan meetings and collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, and medical staff Communicate nutrition concerns and recommendations clearly to the care team Provide nutrition input for residents with complex medical or behavioral needs Regulatory & Compliance Support Ensure nutrition services comply with CMS, state, and local regulations Assist with survey preparation and response , including addressing nutrition-related citations if applicable Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the medical record Dietary Services Support Collaborate with dietary management to ensure menus meet: Nutritional adequacy Therapeutic diet requirements Resident preferences and cultural considerations Review and approve menus per regulatory standards Provide guidance on nourishment programs, supplements, and texture-modified diets Education & Consultation Provide nutrition education to staff as needed Serve as a nutrition resource for residents and families Recommend best practices related to geriatric nutrition and quality improvement Contract Details Flexible scheduling based on census and regulatory requirements Compensation structure to be discussed (per visit, hourly, or monthly contract) Independent contractor responsible for taxes, insurance, and licensure maintenance
