Full-time SUMMARY:
The Nutrition Educator supports the WIC Program by providing nutrition services, determining participant eligibility, and delivering education to promote healthy outcomes. This role primarily serves low-risk participants and works under the supervision of a licensed dietitian to ensure high-quality care and compliance with program policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Nutrition Education & Support:
1. Conduct client intake, including collecting demographic, health, and dietary information. 2. Determine WIC eligibility based on program guidelines. 3. Provide basic nutrition education to participants under the supervision of a qualified nutritionist. 4. Issue food benefits and explain approved food packages. 5. Schedule appointments and maintain accurate client records. 6. Measure and record height, weight, and hemoglobin levels. 7. Promote breastfeeding and provide general support and referrals. 8. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all program regulations and policies. 9. Assist and outreach efforts to recruit and retain eligible participants. 10. Support clinic operations, including answering phones and managing files. 11, Model professional behavior and the Agency dress code. 11. Ability to work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in nutrition, health, or related field. Registered Nurse degree preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in customer service, healthcare, or a community-based setting.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE
Completion of all state-mandated WIC CPA training requirements upon hire. Ongoing training compliance documented in the state system (Focus). Subject to quarterly chart audits (minimum of 10 records reviewed). Performance and competency are evaluated through ongoing monitoring and state review.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, legal documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. A candidate should have the ability to write reports and business correspondence, as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Know basic computer operations and work with Windows and email. Use a word processor for simple documents. A successful candidate must be willing to learn WIC-specific software and the Internet.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to travel throughout the five (5) county service area regularly and travel occasionally within the state and nationwide. Must have a current and valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and be insurable. Upon hire, must have or obtain current Bloodborne Pathogens training.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to forty (40) pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work in clinic settings with children ages 0 - 5.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and to childhood illnesses. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed in community-based WIC clinics in a standard office setting, involving the use of a computer up to 6 hours per day, and may involve exposure to communicable diseases or sick participants. Occasional driving to sites within the client communities and exposure to inclement weather. Work also involves walking, standing, stooping or bending, lifting 20-40 pounds, setting up and removing tables, chairs, and equipment as needed at the clinic.
