Ideal for new graduates, individuals looking for Part Time , or those with WIC or nutrition experience . Nutritional Credentials can be obtained during your first year if you currently do not have adequate courses within your degree.
WIC Program Overview:
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) aims to support the health of women, infants, and children up to age 5 by providing healthy foods, nutrition and breastfeeding education, and referrals to health and social services. This is a grant funded program which is subject to annual renewal.Job Summary:
The Program Manager for WIC/CPA (Competent Professional Authority) is responsible for the operation of the WIC Nutrition program. Performs all duties related to ongoing evaluation (nutritional assessments and financial eligibility), nutrition and breastfeeding education, scheduling appointments (caseload management), complete charting, assigns and customizes food prescriptions, making referrals, keeping accurate records/organized files, and telephone communication/written communication with other agencies/groups/individuals/families. This position works as a member of District 6 HRDC, providing direct services for women, infants, and children.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Regular attendance Complete intake certification of WIC participants. Interview clients regarding their health and nutrition history, using motivational interviewing and displaying non-judgmental and empathetic listening skills Provide participant-centered, up-to-date, and culturally relevant nutrition and breastfeeding education and support as required. Obtain weight, length, and hemoglobin's as prescribed by program. Telephone communication skills, scheduling and relating program information. Make appropriate referrals to other agencies and services. Coordinate with other WIC personnel, both local and state, so as to provide an efficient, accurate performance/accounting of local WIC operations. Input data into WIC computer system in accurate and timely manner, and according to standards developed by State WIC Program and local WIC agency policies and procedures Enter all family, provider and community services into MPACCT on a regular basis to meet Agency requirements. Travel to outlying sites, as needed, and in all seasons, to provide WIC services. This includes driving as well as loading, unloading and movement of equipment and supplies. Collaborate with local grocery stores. Maintain Confidentiality and respect privacy of customers and clients at all times. Display flexibility and teamwork while performing tasks, with the goal of exemplary Customer Service. Attend staff, community, and program meetings and trainings as required. This may include occasional out of town travel. Work with the Fiscal Officer to develop and manage program operating budgets. Ensure expenditures are authorized within contract guidelines and budgets. Company cell phone will be provided for client communication purposes. Perform other duties as assigned in support of District 6 HRDC. Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. CPA's shall be one of the following: Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist with a BS/MS from any college, Registered Diet Technician (DTR), health-related degreed professional (RN)(PA), a current Montana WIC CPA, or other professional with a health and /or science related degree with adequate coursework (within the last 10 years if not actively working in the field of health and/or nutrition) which will include, at a minimum: Basic Nutrition Nutrition in the Life Cycle Completed series of Anatomy/Physiology One additional course in nutrition such as Community Nutrition, Weight Management, Culinary Nutrition, Nutrition in Chronic Disease, Motivational Interviewing, or equivalent counseling class. Must be able to maintain confidentiality concerning clients and staff. (HIPAA) Maintain program client files as prescribed and required by contract. Ability to use different weight instruments and measuring devices on infants, children, and women. Proficient Communication skills to ensure efficiencies and quality customer service Foundational knowledge of technology and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive work environment. Ability to attend educational programs as required. Must be able to manage multiple tasks in a time sensitive fashion Must be able to perform assigned/routine duties independently and accurately with minimal/ reasonable supervision or assistance. Have a valid Montana Drivers License, proof of personal vehicle insurance, and must meet insurability requirements for agency automobile insurance policy.Pay:
