This role collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal nutritional care and compliance with dietary standards and regulatory requirements. The Registered Dietitian plays a key role in evaluating food and drug interactions, modifying diets as appropriate, and educating patients and families on nutrition-related health management.

35 hours/week Job Summary The Registered Dietitian monitors patients for food and drug interactions and provides education regarding nutrition-related health management. This role records food and drug interaction education within the patient education section and collaborates with physicians regarding appropriate diet modifications. The Dietitian performs nutritional screenings and assessments, develops individualized nutrition plans, provides patient and family education, and monitors ongoing nutritional status to support positive patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Screen and assess patients accurately and timely based on level of care and nutritional risk. Determine patient nutritional needs and develop individualized nutrition care plans. Provide follow-up care and ongoing nutritional monitoring. Interview patients and/or family members to obtain dietary histories, food preferences, and nutritional information. Interpret laboratory, physical, and social data relevant to patient nutrition care. Monitor and educate patients regarding food and drug interactions. Document nutrition education, diet instructions, and patient understanding in the medical record. Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams regarding appropriate diet modifications. Modify patient menus as needed to support therapeutic diets and patient preferences. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families to promote improved health outcomes. Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient confidentiality requirements. Required Qualifications Education Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition required. Master's degree preferred. Experience Minimum one (1) year of Registered Dietitian experience required. Two (2) years of experience preferred.Certifications & Licensure For Post-Acute/Long-Term Care Assignments:
New York State Certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a "Dietitian-Nutritionist" required at time of hire.For Acute Care Assignments:
Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian required with Primary Source Verification.Preferred:
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification preferred.
