Job Description

Registered DietitianPosition Summary The Registered Dietitian is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the nutritional care services for residents at Peachtree Centre. The Registered Dietitian assesses residents' nutritional status, develops individualized nutrition care plans, provides nutrition counseling, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal resident health, wellness, and quality of life. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS requirements, and supports the facility's commitment to providing exceptional resident-centered care. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Nutrition Services Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for residents upon admission, quarterly, annually, and as needed. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans. Evaluate residents for nutritional risks, weight changes, skin integrity concerns, swallowing difficulties, and therapeutic diet needs. Monitor and document resident progress toward nutritional goals. Recommend dietary interventions and modifications based on clinical needs. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions. Provide nutrition counseling and education to residents, families, and responsible parties. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with CMS, state, local, and facility dietary regulations. Maintain accurate and timely nutrition documentation within the medical record. Assist during state surveys and regulatory inspections. Review dietary policies and procedures and recommend updates as necessary. Monitor compliance with physician diet orders and therapeutic diets. Food Service Collaboration Work closely with the Dietary Manager and Food Service Department to ensure menus meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences. Review and approve menus for nutritional adequacy and regulatory compliance. Assist with menu planning, recipe modifications, and special dietary accommodations. Monitor meal service quality and resident satisfaction. Conduct dining observations and recommend improvements. Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Monitor nutrition-related quality indicators. Identify trends and implement corrective action plans as needed. Assist with infection prevention and wound management initiatives related to nutrition. Resident Advocacy Promote resident choice and person-centered care. Address nutrition-related concerns from residents, families, and staff. Support residents in achieving the highest practicable level of health and well-being. Staff Education Provide nutrition education and training to dietary staff, nursing staff, and other departments. Educate staff on therapeutic diets, food allergies, hydration, weight management, and nutrition-related regulations. Serve as a nutrition resource for the facility. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or related field from an accredited institution required. Licensure & Certification Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN). Current Georgia Dietitian License, if required by state regulations. Current CPR certification preferred. Experience Minimum one (1) year of clinical nutrition experience preferred. Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or healthcare settings preferred. Experience with wound care nutrition, diabetes management, and therapeutic diets preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of CMS regulations, nutrition standards, and long-term care requirements. Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills. Knowledge of therapeutic diets and medical nutrition therapy. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Proficiency with electronic health records and computer systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to travel throughout the facility to conduct resident assessments and observations. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Pay:
$29.37 - $35.37 per hour
