JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct clinical nutrition care to patients according to established guidelines. Maintains pertinent patient data as necessary and recommends therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patients. Documents all relevant aspects in accordance with departmental standards. Reviews, updates, and coordinates patient nutritional care and protocol implementation through continuing education and ongoing communications with other interdisciplinary staff. Attends health care team meetings to discuss patient care needs. Develops policies and procedures related to clinical nutrition services in accordance with established standards. Coordinates the development and review of nutrition education materials for individuals and groups. Reviews and revises the JMH Guide to Nutrition Care in a timely manner and according to current practice guidelines. Approves patient menus and nutritional supplements. Serves as an education resource within the Nutrition Services department and for nurses, physicians and other medical professionals as related to clinical nutrition issues, including use of automated documentation procedures. Works as a clinical nutrition liaison with medical and allied health professionals to develop and expand services and programs. Serves as a clinical preceptor for dietetic interns and other students. Develops and monitors staff schedules within established parameters. Assists in the development and implementation of staff orientation and competency evaluation. Assists in the hiring of Nutrition Consulting staff; evaluates staff work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Designs, implements, and monitors work routines to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, as well as other licensing and accreditation agencies. Assists the Chief Nursing Officer in the development, implementation, and analysis of performance improvement activities. Serves as the departmental staff liaison for JMH Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, as well as other clinical work teams. Assists in the development, revision, staff training, implementation and revision of clinical departmental policies to ensure coordination within established guidelines. Performs related work tasks as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer. Provides direct supervision of the Clinical Dietetics staff. Adheres to HACCP and ISDH sanitation standards. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or related field. CDE preferred. Must be certified as a Dietitian by the State of Indiana. Minimum two years clinical dietetics experience required. Additional training/experience using application skills for word processing, spreadsheet, and software management preferred. • Eligibility for the bonus is limited to external candidates. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, dayshift 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period.
