Job Description:
The Adult Oncology Registered Dietitian provides comprehensive nutrition care to adult cancer patients across the continuum of care (inpatient and/or outpatient). This role focuses on the prevention and management of malnutrition, nutrition-related side effects of cancer treatments, and improving overall patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Nutrition Care Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for adult oncology patients using evidence-based tools. Diagnose nutrition problems and develop individualized nutrition care plans. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed. Provide medical nutrition therapy for patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and surgical treatments. Symptom & Side Effect Management Manage nutrition-related side effects such as: Nausea and vomiting Mucositis Dysphagia Cachexia and unintended weight loss Provide enteral and parenteral nutrition recommendations when indicated. Patient & Caregiver Education Educate patients and families on: Nutrition during cancer treatment and survivorship Food safety for immunocompromised patients Managing treatment-related symptoms through diet Develop and distribute educational materials.
Work Environment :
Hospital inpatient units, outpatient oncology clinics, or cancer centers May involve exposure to immunocompromised patients Standard clinical hours; occasional flexibility may be required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods Ability to lift educational materials or light equipment Frequent interaction with patients and healthcare staff
Required :
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential (Commission on Dietetic Registration) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of practice Experience in clinical nutrition (hospital or outpatient setting)
Preferred:
Experience in oncology nutrition Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) through Commission on Dietetic Registration Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition support Familiarity with oncology treatment modalities

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and counseling abilities Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Compassion and sensitivity to patients with complex medical conditionsOrganizational and documentation skills
