Full-Time, Exempt Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / RN Supervisor to join our long-term care facility and skilled nursing department. The ideal candidate will support the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing operations, maintaining high standards of care, and mentoring nursing staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that all nursing staff refer to the resident plan of care prior to administering daily care to the resident
  • Assists in developing and implementing the nursing service organization structure
  • Ensures that all nursing service employees are following Kirkwood's policies and procedures and their respective job descriptions
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing clinical services, policies, and procedures
  • Supervise nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) across all shifts to ensure quality care and adherence to policies
  • Participate in hiring, training, mentoring of nursing personnel
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations; participate in survey readiness and quality assurance initiatives
  • Make frequent rounds to monitor patient care quality
  • Interprets the department's policies and procedures to personnel, residents, families, visitors, and government agencies as necessary
  • Develops methods for coordinating nursing services with other services to ensure the continuity of the residents' care
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
  • Understand the MDS process and Medicare Part A and B
  • Facilitate admission process, discharge process, and complex care needs; coordinate with marketing team
  • Ability to be available to take calls and take charge of nursing carts while on the floor
  • Assists in miscellaneous departmental duties/functions as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • BSN, RN Degree required
  • Must possess a current active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience as an RN strongly preferred
  • Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a supervisor in a long-term care facility
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with staff, residents, and families
  • PC skills using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and personnel information systems
