Job Description

Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing will provide leadership in managing and implementing a comprehensive nursing program for delivery in support of college, campus, and/or departmental goals to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations. Participates in administration, curriculum development and coordination, determination of teaching assignments, supervision and evaluation of faculty, and selection/coordination of program specific external clinical facilities and instruction. Provides professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the director in overseeing and guiding the program. Assists the DON in the development of the admission, retention, and progression criteria. Interviews and screens students and faculty for the campus assigned. Ensures that all students receive their required hours of instruction, skills lab and clinical practices. Evaluates and tracks all nursing students registered in prerequisite courses. Verifies and signs nursing faculty hours to make sure they follow the assigned schedule and reports them to Payroll Office. Ensure the proper maintenance of program records and documents: faculty folders, students' folders, and other reports. Provides academic advising to nursing students. Assist the director to complete all documentation and reports required by the Board of Nursing. Completes all annual campus license reports/surveys. Plans courses/evaluations dates with the theory and clinical instructors Reviews data obtained from the evaluations to promote program and instructional improvement. And make recommendations. Provides faculty orientation (lecture and clinical instructors) Observes faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction at least twice a year or as needed. Assist DON with visits to the clinical sites to ensure that the clinical schedules are followed, including weekends. Ensures that all nursing related issues in the assigned campus are addressed in a professional and ethical manner with a resolution and reports to the DON. Attends/participates in all nursing meetings and administrative meetings. Develop clinical assignments in healthcare organizations. Prepares orientation, graduation, pinning ceremony, and nursing events on assigned campus. Participate in the self-studies and committees conducted by the College. Support and participate in College Commencement Ceremonies. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in nursing is required; master's degree preferred. Must be a graduate from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital- based program) in the specialty field or subject area. Minimum of three years' experience as a registered nurse, with one year in teaching or clinical supervision, or a combination thereof, in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years. Minimum of three years' experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years. Must have completed a course or courses offered by an approved school with instruction in administration, teaching and curriculum development. Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Must have approval by the Board of Nursing prior to assuming the role of Assistant Director of Nursing. Current CPR Card. Current Driver's License. Experience in leadership to cultivate a learner-centered environment and to foster excellence. Knowledge in technological support and delivery of program areas and services. Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in computer applications, ability to think on your feet, and ability to handle multiple tasks. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Effective interaction across departmental boundaries must be maintained.
Pay:
$110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
