This position requires a strong background in nursing management, comprehensive knowledge of medical records, and adherence to regulatory compliance. The DON will be responsible for developing care plans, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring that all documentation meets HIPAA standards. Responsibilities Lead and manage the nursing department to ensure quality patient care is delivered consistently. Oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare guidelines. Conduct regular reviews of medical records and documentation to maintain accuracy and compliance. Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and improve care delivery processes. Manage the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and ensure timely completion by nursing staff. Provide training and development opportunities for nursing personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge. Address any issues or concerns related to patient care promptly and effectively. Skills Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to patient care. Experience working in a nursing home or similar long-term care setting. Proficient in managing medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Familiarity with MDS assessments and documentation requirements. Proven nurse management skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively. Excellent documentation review skills to ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Strong supervisory skills with a focus on mentoring and developing nursing staff. Ability to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs. Knowledge of Medicare policies as they relate to patient care services.
