Job Description

The Care Center of Honolulu is currently hiring for the Director of Staff Development position. Free medical insurance for employee plus one 10 paid holidays, 2 weeks vacation and 12 days of sick leave 401k matching Education Reimbursement Free parking The primary function of the Director of Staff Development is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the education program of the Care Center of Honolulu; is also responsible to orient and provide initial training to newly hired employees and to maintain and enhance employee skills and competencies. Responsibilities Plans, develops, and implements educational and on-the-job training programs to address the educational needs of all staff, managers, and supervisors. Evaluates the curriculum, type of format, audience, course materials, audiovisual aids, and trainer(s) used to maximize effectiveness. Acts as a consultant to other departments in the development of department job specific orientation, training and competencies. Coordinates mandatory in-services for all departments. Keeps current on new developments by attending seminars, reading professional journals, etc. Keeps current on regulations and guidelines as well as professional standards. Maintain an educational profile for attendance at in-services. Participates in the facility's continuing quality improvement program. Supervision All departments on a given shift.
Supervision Received:
General supervision from the Director of Nursing. May receive specific or general instructions regarding resident care from the affected resident and/or family. Qualifications Required One to Two years experience as a registered nurse in a skilled nursing facility, 3-5 years preferred. Three to five years charge nurse experience or minimum of one year of managerial experience. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of patients served. Updates and maintains professional knowledge and clinical skills related to long term care nursing. Basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company software. Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees. Must pass drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
