This key role, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, supervises nursing services and the standards of care to assure a professional, skilled level of care and treatment to all residents to ensure each resident meets their highest practicable level of well-being, taking into account medical, physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs. Essential Job Functions Supervises the scheduling of nursing staff and the daily care needs of the residents. Develop a working relationship with contracted professional medical staff as well as outside physicians and medical professionals. Develop working relationships with all nursing staff as well as other department staff within the facility and the corporation. Assists in developing solutions to nursing department challenges and problems. Ensures availability of all nursing supplies and equipment as well as ensuring that all nursing equipment is in working order at all times. Oversee the maintenance of all medical records and related nursing service documents. Ensures that all resident records are accurate, complete and professional in content, as well as following current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines. Maintains good working relationships with all local hospitals and long-term care facilities and work groups Acts as the Director of Nursing in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Job Qualifications Education:
Graduate of a State Approved School of Nursing and have a current nursing license in the State of Indiana.Experience:
2 years of experience in nursing management, Long Term Care Working knowledge of nursing service, nursing administration, rehabilitation, and geriatric nursing needsSkills:
Effective communication while maintaining confidentiality. Warm, understanding, responsiveness to needs of residents, families, and staff, while exercising patience and tact. Good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness to make decisions. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases. Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position. Expectations of All Employees Support the organization's mission and vision. Demonstrates physical, mental, and emotional health consistent with the responsibilities of the position. Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination, in accordance with facility policies. Possesses good moral character and personal integrity, serving as a positive role model within the community. Maintains appropriate grooming and personal appearance in accordance with the facility's dress code and professional standards. Maintain confidentiality. Follow HIPAA guidelines. Participate in mandatory in-service training and required meetings. Adhere to safety measures such as infection control and handwashing, follow fire, tornado, emergency, and other safety policies and procedures. Maintain professional conduct and positive communication with team members, residents, families, and visitors. Flexibility for other tasks and duties as assigned.
