Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a critical leadership role in supporting clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. This position provides direct oversight of nursing staff, conducts routine clinical audits, and actively participates in patient rounds to ensure adherence to best practices and facility policies. The ADON is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing nursing staff, addressing performance concerns, and fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. This role requires strong clinical judgment, operational awareness, and the ability to lead within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Key Responsibilities:
Lead recruitment efforts for nursing staff, including interviewing, hiring, and overseeing onboarding processes; ensure new hires are effectively trained and integrated into the team Develop and manage staffing schedules to ensure appropriate clinical coverage across all shifts Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance management, including administering corrective action when necessary to uphold standards Conduct routine patient rounds to assess resident status and observe nursing practices Audit clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and facility requirements Monitor departmental expenses and staffing utilization to support budget adherence Facilitate and lead staff meetings to review patient care updates, operational priorities, and team performance Complete employee evaluations, identifying strengths, opportunities for growth, and development plans Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and proceduresQualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing Demonstrated knowledge of nursing best practices, regulatory compliance, and healthcare standards Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage staff, residents, and families Proven ability to coach and develop team members to improve performance and outcomes Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret clinical and operational data Excellent written communication skills, including experience with documentation audits and performance evaluations Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard business software (Microsoft Office Suite, email, etc.)Benefits:
