Registered Nurse (RN) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join the leadership team of a skilled nursing and rehabilitation community. The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing to oversee daily nursing operations, support clinical staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote high-quality resident care. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who is organized, approachable, dependable, and comfortable providing hands-on leadership in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily management and operation of the nursing department. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing team members. Maintain a visible presence throughout the nursing units and provide hands-on clinical support when needed. Monitor resident care to ensure services are delivered safely and according to individualized plans of care. Assist with resident assessments, changes in condition, physician notifications, and clinical follow-up. Conduct routine rounds to identify clinical concerns, staffing needs, and opportunities for improvement. Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and evaluating nursing staff. Support appropriate staffing and nursing coverage based on resident and operational needs. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings. Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Assist with investigating incidents, accidents, medication errors, grievances, and other clinical concerns. Support infection prevention and control practices throughout the nursing department. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Assist with survey preparation, regulatory visits, audits, and plans of correction. Ensure nursing practices comply with applicable federal and state regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies. Provide education and coaching to nursing staff regarding clinical practices, policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations. Promote effective communication between nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and other departments. Assist with addressing resident and family concerns in a professional and timely manner. Support accountability related to employee performance, attendance, professionalism, and established expectations. Provide direct resident care or nursing-unit support when necessary. Participate in nursing leadership on-call responsibilities as assigned. Perform additional nursing leadership duties as needed. Qualifications Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan . Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or similar healthcare experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills. Knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to skilled nursing facilities. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive working environment. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
